The Top 3 Tips from a Career Coach with Claudia Miller

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Claudia Miller – College Financial Aid and Career Navigation with Tom & Maria Geffers and Seth Greene Episode 006 Claudia Miller

Claudia started her career like many people do: in an entry-level role, not loving her job, and barely making any money. But unlike many of her colleagues at that time, she wasn’t willing to settle. While she’s certainly ambitious, and no stranger to hard work, the idea of working in a non-ideal situation for years on end to “pay her dues” or “slowly work her way up the ladder for 20-30 years” just didn’t appeal to her.

It quickly became clear that she needed to find a better, faster path to career advancement. She decided to study people who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, landing their dream job at an amazing salary or the ones who always seem to get those promotions and $50,000 raises, “right on schedule”, to see if they had anything in common that she might be able to replicate for herself.

That’s when she started making some surprising discoveries. Within 12 months, she went from feeling “meh” about her work to breaking into an amazing management role, getting multiple promotions and repeatedly negotiating $30,000 salary increases each time. She stopped blindly climbing the corporate ladder, and instead became the architect of her own career success.

Now, she is on the mission of helping others achieve their career goals. She's helped her clients negotiate salary increases of up to $50,000. She was featured on major news outlets and was named as one of the "Top 23 Most Innovative Career Coaches of 2020" by Business Insider.
